DANC 100A Beginning Dance Composition (3)

Exploration of compositional movement techniques. Improvisation and choreographic structures are presented for student study. The course culminates with a studio demonstration or theatre performance.
Offered Fall semesters
After successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Outcome 1: Analyze and apply movement studies based on improvisations using definition of dance
- Outcome 2: Construct, analyze, evaluate, teach, then revise group-form movement studies demonstrating social awareness of working with groups
- Outcome 3: Evaluate and design choreography based on the compositional structures and stage space theories from prominent choreographers and post-modem theorists.
- Outcome 4: Demonstrate and apply the skills needed for critical evaluation of choreography including choice of costumes, props, lighting, setting, and music.
