CNST 118A Advanced Project Furniture Making I (3)

Individualized project-based course designed for advanced-level students in furniture making, incorporating the furtherance of those skills (safety, project planning, design, hand and machine tools, material knowledge) acquired in the basic CNST 116
After successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Outcome 1: Analyze health and safety hazards unique to the wood shop environment, describe and integrate OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) Standards relevant to wood shop safety and health, and utilize safe work practices.
- Outcome 2: Synthesize furniture design components, project planning, materials knowledge, fabrication processes, and finishing work to begin constructing a culminating furniture project, such as a musical instrument, chair, etc.
- Outcome 3: Demonstrate competency in safe power tool joinery
