Overview of issues related to Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD) in young children, with an emphasis on early identification and intervention strategies. The class will explore subtypes of SPD, sensory integration interventions and overlapping patterns with ADHD and autistic-spectrum disorders.

After successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Outcome 1: Examine Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD) in young children, ages birth to eight years.
- Outcome 2: Describe the symptoms, and common misperceptions of Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD) in young children.
- Outcome 3: Compare and analyze early intervention strategies associated with early diagnosis of Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD).
- Outcome 4: Distinguish the overlapping patterns of Sensory Processing Disorder, with emphasis upon the connection to autism and ADHD.
