ADVISE: Completion of BSMA G, H, or J or MATH E
A study of gross wages and payroll deductions, trade and cash discounts, markups and markdowns, depreciation, simple and compound interest, present value and annuities, installment sales, loan amortization, financial statements of different business organizations, inventory methods, insurance, bank reconciliation, and the use of graphs and tables.
After successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Outcome 1: Analyze and solve word and numerical mathematical problems requiring basic mathematics and equations encountered in the business world.
- Outcome 2: Solve simple interest, compound interest and annuities, bank discount, and other time value of money math applications.
- Outcome 3: Calculate payroll withholdings, insurance, taxation, and other mathematical applications of accounting.
- Outcome 4: Prepare the income statement and balance sheet financial statements, given basic financial data.
