This course provides an overview of contemporary Asian Pacific American (APA) community identity, leadership, organization, history, needs, concerns, civic participation and public policy. Required field trips will visit key APA organizations and leaders.
Offered on occasion
After successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Outcome 1: Construct a working knowledge of Asian American communities, identities, organization, history, needs, and contemporary concerns.
- Outcome 2: Analyze models of critical leadership and their intersections with issues of race, class, gender, sexual orientation, etc.
- Outcome 3: Analyze methods and examples of effective leadership within Asian American communities.
- Outcome 4: Interpret key public policies and how these policies impact today's Asian American Communities.
