Focus is on the formulation of a self-directed creative process that builds upon the skills, methods, and concepts of Intermediate Painting. Advanced painting techniques, materials, themes, concepts and critical skills are emphasized. Ideas are developed into finished works through long-term and series projects.
All sections will charge a material fee of $15.00
After successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Outcome 1: Employ a rigorous, self-directed creative process to design and construct paintings of advanced-level technical and conceptual quality.
- Outcome 2: Appraise the variable options of format, scale, style, materials, methods, and processes that will best realize the artist's intention while allowing for the unexpected intuitive leap.
- Outcome 3: Critically analyze, problem-solve, and critique one's own as well as others' work in a clear and constructive manner in oral and written form according to the methods and language of art analysis.
- Outcome 4: Test ideas through the creation of a series of works, employing experimentation, problem-solving and refinement to reach effective visual and conceptual resolution.
