Comprehensive survey of all major building materials and systems of assembly in architecture and construction. Topics include wood, masonry, concrete, steel, glass, foundations, roofing, walls, frames, doors and windows as well as considerations of sustainability in the construction process.

After successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Outcome 1: Consider the impact of building codes on the selection of building systems
- Outcome 2: Assess the processes and techniques of building construction
- Outcome 3: Analyze materials and building systems in terms of their effect on sustainability and energy conservation
- Outcome 4: Assess how the processes by which buildings are designed and built influences the selection of building materials and systems.
