1. "Small Business Law Basics” Workshop with Nancy Yamaguchi – November 1


When: Wednesday, November 1 from 5:30pm-7:30pm

Where: MUB 251, Ocean Campus


From deciding how to structure your business to hiring your first employee or selecting a business name, this workshop will teach you the basics to start, grow and protect your company.  Topics will include a general overview of business entities, employment law and contracts, commercial leases, and intellectual property basics (e.g., copyrights, trademarks and patents).


About the presenter:  Nancy Yamaguchi advises technology companies across the world on cross-border mergers and acquisitions, strategic investments, and joint ventures. Her clients include companies in the semiconductor, manufacturing, and software industries, among others. Nancy’s combined business and legal experience in the technology industry allows her to provide customized legal advice and negotiate transactions that are specific and relevant to companies in that space.

3. Guided Pathways – November 2
Join us on November 2 for our second college inquiry into the guided pathways framework! In Spring of 2017, the Career and Transfer Pathways Committee held the first inquiry session into the guided pathways framework and how it might help CCSF students. This event will continue this inquiry and discussion, building on the last workshop and digging deeper into the framework.

Where: The Career Center, Ocean Campus Cafeteria

When: Monday, November 6

5. Employment & Education Recruitment Fair - November 7


Announcing the first annual Employment & Education Recruitment Fair, designed to:

  • Provide immediate job placement for Home Care Providers at the San Francisco In-Home Supportive Services Public Authority (Public Authority), and Homebridge
  • Offer career advancement training through City College of San Francisco (CCSF) programs:

o   English as a Second Language (ESL) classes to prepare workers for better jobs

o   Vocational ESL (VESL) classes specific to the home care profession

o    A new “Intro to Healthcare” program launching in Spring 2018


WHEN: Tuesday, November 7

There will be two identical sessions: 12:00pm-2:00pm or 4:00pm-6:00pm


WHERE: City College Civic Center Campus, 1170 Market Street

9. The Guardsman captures awards at JACC


The Guardsman captured General Excellence honors at the October 21 regional conference of the Journalism Association of Community College’s (JACC) held at De Anza College in Cupertino.


The newspaper was one of three publications to earn the honor, and also earned awards in On-The-Spot and the Mail-In competition.
