3. CCSF Police Department Joins Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign

The San Francisco Community College Police Department is proud to announce that it has teamed up with the Pink Patch Project. There are 140+ public safety agencies across the nation participating. City College of San Francisco is the third community college in the nation to join this wonderful cause.

The Pink Patch Project (#PinkPatchProject) is an innovative public awareness campaign designed to bring attention to the fight against breast cancer and to support breast cancer research organizations in combating this devastating disease.

It is estimated that approximately 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime. This disease can have a profound impact on the patient and her loved ones. It is a disease however that can be effectively treated with surgery, radiation therapy, hormone therapy and chemotherapy.

The #PinkPatchProject, has the simple goal of increasing awareness about the life-saving benefits of early detection and intervention in the fight against breast cancer. In addition to their public education efforts, they have added the goal of raising funds from the sale of #PinkPatchProject items to go directly to fund the research, treatment and education needed to help find a cure.

CCSF campus police will support the Pink Patch Project by wearing pink patches on their uniform during the month of October, and sell Pink Patch Project merchandise as a fundraiser to donate to charity.

If you would like to be involved, follow us on social media to find out how you can own a pink patch. For more information about the #PinkPatchProject visit http://www.irwindaleca.gov/index.aspx?NID=363
