1. Business Card Orders Due September 29

The Visual Media Design Department is now accepting orders from City College employees for business cards. There is a $20.00 charge for 200 cards to cover the cost of materials.

Orders are due by Friday, September 29 and will be returned to you via campus mail during the week of Monday, October 30.

Please fill out and return the attached application, along with payment, to Box V49.
Please note that these business cards are produced entirely by the students in VMD 200, Emerge Studio. 
This project is repeated at the beginning of each semester, and is meant to be a learning experience for our students.

2. CCSF Bookstore Hours - Week of August 13

3. Professional Development Opportunity: Teaching Men of Color in CC Community of Practice

  • Faculty, Classified Staff and Administrators (there will be two separate Communities of Practice in Fall 2017, one for administrators and one for Faculty & Classified Staff)

  • Online course/certificate in Teaching Men of Color in Community College in Fall 2017
  • Ongoing monthly Community of Practice (CoP) meetings to discuss learning in the course and apply to classroom practice and/or institutional changes
  • Campuswide Reportback session in December 2017

  • To strengthen and deepen our existing commitment to effectively teaching male students of color
  • Closing the achievement gap depends on improving success rates for male students of color
  • Our CCSF data show that men of color, overall, experience disproportionate impact across equity indicators, particularly Course Completion, Basic Skills Completion, Certificate Completion and Transfer

  • Online course: Beginning in August or September 2017. Each person has around 30 days to complete the course after registering.
  • Community of Practice: Monthly meetings from August 2017 - December 2017

More Details:
  • Online course: Completion of the course* includes about 15 hours of work including 2 live sessions. Live sessions occur every other Wednesday and Friday from 4-5pm and learners can choose the 2 sessions that work best for them.
  • Faculty who commit to being part of the ongoing Community of Practice will have priority for inclusion in the second cohort for the Fall 2017 enrollment in the online course (The course costs $200 to enroll as an individual). 


Teaching Men of Color in the Community College: This program is a week-long, fully online training program designed to enhance the capacity of faculty to support learning in Men of Color. A feature piece came out in Diverse Issues in Higher Ed, along with pieces in Frost Illustrated and Huffington Post.
