3. "Now is the Time: Healthcare for Everybody" Documentary Presentation - May 9


John Adams Center Library presents "Now is the Time: Healthcare for Everybody" a documentary by Terry Sterrenberg and Laurie Simons, on Monday, May 8, from 12:00pm to 2pm, JAD Auditorium, 3rd Floor. The film takes a look at what's happening with America's healthcare system and what you can do about it. Jeff Gee, MD, from Physicians for a National Health Plan (PNHP) and Barb Ryan, RN, from California Nurses Association (CNA) will do a Q&A and talk about Single Payer Healthcare immediately following the screening. 4. CCSF Debate team debates new Smoke-Free policy  May 9

Did you know CCSF is on track to become a Smoke-free and Tobacco-free institution? Come learn about what this policy will be, and what it means for everyone at CCSF. Our nationally award winning debate team will consider the new policy, and some of the benefits and disadvantages for CCSF.

Tuesday, May 9, 8:00pm at the Diego Rivera Theatre on Ocean Campus 
The CCSF Advanced Jazz Band & Jazz/Rock Improvisation Ensembles, directed by David Hardiman Jr. and MC’d by David Hardiman, Sr. will perform with special guest artist, trumpeter/composer George Spencer.


Monday, May 15, 2:30pm-3:30pm at AgeSong University, 350 University Street, San Francisco 94134

CCSF guitarists, directed by Larry Ferrara, will entertain AgeSong University elders in the Chapel. Family, friends and neighbors are invited to this special event. The group will perform works by Verdi, Bach, Beethoven, and Vivaldi and popular works by Van Morrison, Ben King, and John Lennon. For more information click here

6. Upwardly Global Info Session (Co-Sponsored by the Career Development Center) - May 11

The Career Development Center will be collaborating with Upwardly Global to provide students with information on accessing Upwardly Global’s free Job Search services. Upwardly Global is a nonprofit organization specifically dedicated to helping recent immigrants, refugees, and asylees return to their former career industries. To date, more than 4,100 UpGlo job seekers nationwide have returned to their professions with thousands more assisted. (https://www.upwardlyglobal.org/)

 

If you know a new immigrant, refugee, or asylee to the US that is struggling to communicate their professional background and education to American employers, please refer them to the attend this presentation. Upwardly Global will review their services and help attendees learn how to better navigate the American job search, and hopefully, re-enter their careers!

7. Culinary Service Skills Training Career Day - May 12


A Culinary Service Skills Training Career Day event will be held from 10am – 12:00pm on Friday, May 12 at the Downtown Campus (flyer attached). This is an opportunity for prospective students to learn more about our two culinary arts noncredit programs (Baking & Pastry, and Culinary & Service Skills Training) here at DTN as well as the credit programs at Ocean.
