Interested in having an item appear in CityNotes? Send a written description of your entry, along with any attachments, to citynotes@ccsf.edu by Thursdays at 12:00pm to have your item appear in the Friday issue.

2. $2,500 Scholarships for Asian American & Pacific Islander Students!

 

Multiple awards of $2,500 each will be given to CCSF students by the Asian & Pacific Islander American Scholarship Fund (APIASF). Please encourage students to apply by Oct. 31, 2016 (8:59 p.m., PDT). Application & eligibility requirements: www.apiasf.org/aanapisischolarship.html

 

APIASF has once again partnered with CCSF (7th year!) through the Asian & Pacific American Student Success (APASS) program. Based in Washington D.C., APIASF is the nation's largest provider of college scholarships for AAPI students. CCSF is a federally designated Asian American Native American Pacific Islander Serving Institution (AANAPISI) and this scholarship is available annually to students attending one of 21 APIASF AANAPISI partner campuses.

3. 2016 Spanish Film Festival


The CCSF Spanish Department invites you to attend this year's Spanish Film Festival. Come to the Rosenberg Library throughout the fall semester to see four different films - 
Diarios de Motocicleta, Todo Sobre mi Madre, Como Agua Para Chocolate, and Madeinusa - each of which will include English subtitles. Please see the attached flyer for a description of each film as well as specific dates and times for each showing.


4. Job Fair October 5th

The 11th annual job fair is coming up on Wednesday, October 5 at CCSF Mission Center (1125 Valencia). This event is free and open to both CCSF students as well as the wider community. Come dressed to impress with a recent version of your resume to meet with over 70 different employers. Groups of seven people or more get to jump to the front of the line. Please see the attached flyers for more details.


5. San Francisco Adult Education Consortium - Public Meeting October 4

The San Francisco Adult Education Consortium would like to invite you to a public meeting to discuss plans for San Francisco’s 2016-17 Adult Education Block Grant funding from the State of California. The meeting agenda and supporting documents will be posted on the consortium’s website by September 20.

 

Join us to learn what we have accomplished so far, and provide input on our future plans. Please share this invitation with your members and colleagues; all are welcome!

7. Fall Harvest Milonga (Argentine Tango Social Dance Party)

Where: Wellness Center - Performance Studio 301
When: THIS Saturday, September 17, 2016
7:00pm (sharp!) - Intro lesson for absolute beginners
8:00pm - 10:30pm - Tango party with light refreshments

Latin Break: Ronnie Louie
Admission: $5-10 (sliding scale) cash at the door (to benefit CCSF Dance)

The Milonga has a Fall Harvest theme. Wearing orange & 'Fall leaf' colors is encouraged. Please use the Ocean Avenue building entrance. Studio doors will open at 6:55pm.
