2. $2,500 Scholarships for Asian American & Pacific Islander Students!

 

Multiple awards of $2,500 each will be given to CCSF students by the Asian & Pacific Islander American Scholarship Fund (APIASF). Please encourage students to apply by Oct. 31, 2016 (8:59 p.m., PDT). Application & eligibility requirements: www.apiasf.org/aanapisischolarship.html

 

APIASF has once again partnered with CCSF (7th year!) through the Asian & Pacific American Student Success (APASS) program. Based in Washington D.C., APIASF is the nation's largest provider of college scholarships for AAPI students. CCSF is a federally designated Asian American Native American Pacific Islander Serving Institution (AANAPISI) and this scholarship is available annually to students attending one of 21 APIASF AANAPISI partner campuses.

4. Author Reading, City College Creative Writing Program Visiting Writers Series


Please join us on Monday, September 12th, at 1:30 PM in Rosenberg Library 305 for our first author reading in the City College Creative Writing Program's Visiting Writers Series!

Calla Devlin, author of the newly published and well-received novel, Tell Me Something Real, will read from her novel and offer insights on the writing and publishing process. Find out more at calladevlin.com and join us for this fun and inspirational event!



5. Muslim Holiday Celebration - Festival of the Sacrifice 


Critical Middle Eastern Studies (SWANA) and Interdisciplinary Studies invite you to a celebration on for the Muslim holiday Eid al-Adha or “Festival of the Sacrifice.”  

Wednesday, September 14, 6:00 - 7:30pm, Batmale 203

The celebration will feature Middle Eastern food, music, a description of the holiday, and an overview of the Middle East Certificate program.

Please announce to international students and others who might be interested, including faculty, staff, administrators, family, and friends.


6. CCSF Business Cards - Fall 2016 - REMINDER

The Visual Media Design Department is now accepting orders from CCSF employees for business cards.
There is a $20.00 charge for 200 cards to cover the cost of materials consumed. 

Please use the application form (see attached PDF) and send it with payment to Box V49.

The deadline for submissions is Friday, September 16 and the cards will be returned to you via campus mail during the week of Monday, October 17.
 
Please note that these business cards are produced entirely by the students in VMD 200, Emerge Studio.
This project is repeated at the beginning of each semester, and is meant to be a learning experience for our students.

7. Library Exhibition - I am San Francisco: Black Past and Presence

Join us! Reception and Program For the Library Exhibition:

I am San Francisco: Black Past and Presence
Thursday, September 22, 5:00 - 7:30pm
Rosenberg Library 
Program: Room 305 (5:30 - 6:30pm)
Reception: 3rd floor atrium until 7:30pm

This event is free, and light refreshments served.

Please invite your students to this program!

Jarrel Phillips, guest curator of "I am San Francisco" will talk about the exhibition and show a seven minute video that includes the 40 voices of African American cultural workers in San Francisco. Poet Devorah Major will read and Race Poverty and the Environment will launch their newest issue which includes special sections on City College and on the "I am San Francisco" exhibition. Aliyah Dunn-Salahuddin, Chair of African American Studies, will talk about the history of Black life at CCSF. 

Co-sponsored by the CCSF Library, the African American Studies Department and the African American Scholastic Program.

8. Adobe Certified Associate Testing for Faculty and Students

Adobe Certified Associate (ACA) Testing will be provided free to Bay Area students and faculty. Testing will be held at City College of San Francisco in the Visual Media Design Department. Demonstrate your understanding of Adobe products such as Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premier, Dreamweaver and Flash and earn your Adobe Certified Associate credential.

 • Interactive Media Communication using Adobe Flash Professional
 • Video Communication using Adobe Premiere Pro
 • Visual Communication using Adobe Photoshop
 • Graphic Design & Illustration using Adobe Illustrator
 • Print & Digital Media Publication using Adobe InDesign
 
Seating is limited—all students and faculty are encouraged to attend. You must RSVP to reserve a space—please email natkinso@ccsf.edu to register. 
 
Testing is provided free of charge. Campus parking permit costs $3.
