1. Free Certiport Certification, Classes & Job Fair at Mission Center: 

Congratulations! The Downtown Center is now an authorized  Certiport Testing Center  for Microsoft Office Specialist and Intuit QuickBooks.

Application for Certiport certification is available to credit and noncredit students both past and present free of charge.  
"Certiport certifications are valuable, professional credentials which are globally recognized standards for digital literacy and desktop computing proficiency.  Candidates who get certified are much better prepared for success in both the classroom and the workplace."  
And a whole new set of classes, from QuickBooks to Adobe, Powerpoint to Word, are free at Mission Center. 

Along with with Introduction to Credit Classes, Careers in Information Technology, Interview Workshops, and more, Mission Center has you covered for revamping your skills and finding a new career path! Please see the attached flyer for more details. Classes run March 17 - May 22, 2015.

2. TechSF/BAVC & CCSF Partnership: On Monday, March 23 at 10am in Room 107, 1125 Valencia, TechSF/BAVC in partnership with CCSF will be providing information on how to develop a career in Information Technology. Tuition is free, there is an $800 internship stipend, plus job placement assistance. Any questions, please call 415-920-6010. Submitted by Kate Ryan.

3. Project SURVIVE: Project SURVIVE, City College of San Francisco's nationally recognized peer education sexual violence prevention program, housed in the college's Women's Studies department, commemorates its 20th anniversary with an exhibition in the Madeleine Haas Russell Gallery on the second floor of the Rosenberg Library, October 10, 2014-April 24, 2015 (50 Phelan Avenue at Ocean).


The exhibition features art by local painter, muralist, educator, and activist Juana Alicia, who has been engaged with Project SURVIVE's vision from the beginning when she gave permission to the program to use her print "Sobreviviente" on its first poster.


Two events on Wednesday, March 25 and Thursday, March 26 offer opportunities to gather and reflect on the exhibition and the work of Project SURVIVE:

4. Voice Student Performance: 150 Voice Students perform over 2 weeks!  You are welcome to come and hear the talent we have at CCSF.  Join us at a student voice recital Tuesday March 17, Wednesday March 18 this week- or Thurs March 26 the following week. Support our wonderful singers of all ages, cultures, and musical tastes in their recital debuts spread over 15 hours of singing! We represent the United Nations at CCSF in these classes. See the attached.

5. Faculty Voluntary Sick Leave Bank:

Faculty Voluntary Sick Leave Bank - Open Call for Contributions


Contributions are being accepted to join the Faculty Voluntary Sick Leave Bank (VSLB), a pool established and maintained by the voluntary contribution of accrued sick leave days/hours by faculty.  The VSLB provides members with specific additional sick leave benefits in the event of a catastrophic or life-threatening injury or illness in accord with the AFT/SFCCD CBA Article 17.E - Voluntary Sick Leave Bank.


Submission of the contribution form will be accepted from February 20 through April 10, 2015.  If you have any questions, contact AFT at 585-2121 or Lety Sazo of the Human Resources Department at 487-2443.  The Contribution Form and information notice are attached.

6. Dance Extravaganza: Come and social dance at CCSF on Saturday March 21st from 7 to 11 PM. Three separate rooms featuring swing, ballroom and salsa dancing. Only $5 for all three! Beginning Salsa lesson from 7 to 8 PM. Questions? Contact David Blood at 415 452-5697.

7. AB540 Event: Join us on Thursday March 26th 2015 4-7pm @La Corneta 2731 Mission St (between 23rd and 24th st)


All proceeds will be for AB540 Scholarship opportunities for CCSF students! What is AB540? AB540 is a state law which exempts certain non-resident students from paying non-resident tuition. To qualify for the exemption, a student must have attended a minimum of three years of high school in California. The student must also have graduated from high school in California or received a High School Equivalency Certificate in California, a GED in California or California Certificate of Proficiency.


8. Matilda, Militant Rebel Art Show:

EVENT:   Matilda, Militant Rebel: Exhibition of new works by Robbin Legere Henderson

EXHIBITION DATES:      March 18 - May 13, 2015

EXHIBITION PLACE:       City Arts GalleryCity College of San Francisco, Visual Arts Building, V119

RECEPTION:   Thursday, March 26, 5 to 7pm

This exhibition features a series of Henderson's illustrations for her  grandmother's memoir. Using old family photographs and published images Henderson developed drawings using scratchboard and printmaking techniques creating composites that suggest the story Matilda tells. Each work is strongly narrative and is accompanied by Matilda's vivid text written near the end of her life.


A reception will be held on Thursday, March 26th 5-7pm, at City Arts Gallery, Visual Arts Building, V119. The public is invited to attend. The City Arts Gallery is located at City College of San Francisco, Ocean Campus, 50 Phelan Avenue, Visual Arts Building. Gallery hours: Mon 1:30-5:30pm, Tues 1-6:30pm, Wed 1:30-5:30pm, Thrs 1-6:30pm. 10. Congratulations to the Students of the Environmental Horticulture/Floristry Department: Their presentations have been chosen for the upcoming Bouquets to Art Floral Fashion to be held at the deYoung Museum  on April 14th to April 19th. 2015.
"Bouquets to Art is a spectacular springtime exhibition at the deYoung Museum in which floral designers create arrangements that pay tribute to and draw inspiration from works in the Fine Arts Museums' permanent collections. Produced by the volunteers of the San Francisco Auxiliary, the week long event accompanying programs raise funds to support special exhibitions. education programming, and conservation projects at the Fine Arts Museums."
