2. Bio-Link re-funded at CCSF!: Last week, the National Science Foundation notified the College that
they had awarded another three years of funding in the amount of $3,758,957 for our Bio-Link
program. Headquartered at the college, the Bio-Link Next Generation National Advanced
Technological Education (ATE) Center for Biotechnology and Life Science's mission is to:

(1) Increase the number and diversity of well-trained technicians in the workforce; (2) Meet the ever-growing needs of a continually evolving and diversifying industry for appropriately trained technicians; and (3) Institutionalize community college educational practices that make high-quality education and training in the concepts, tools, skills, processes, regulatory structure, and ethics of biotechnology available to all students. Bio-Link is seeking to continue and expand its work—primarily that of mentoring colleges throughout the nation. Bio-Link originated as a National Center of Excellence in 1998 with funding from the National Science Foundation and continued its work as an ATE National Resource Center beginning in 2004. In 2009, Bio-Link received another four years of funding as a National Center of Excellence with new goals in line with changes in the industry.
