Yoga is a total fitness program with a history dating back some 5,000 years. The word yoga comes from the Sanskrit root yug, which means to join together, or to yoke. Yoga is a method of integrating mind, body, and soul, with a goal of cultivating balance and harmony in one’s life. Yoga is a flexible practice allowing for individuals to tailor the teachings to suit personal needs and desires, and to create a practice that contributes to one's overall life experience.
Yoga exercises, known as asanas, postures, or poses, build a strong sense of self as well as a strong and supple spine and body! Yoga postures massage internal organs, improve circulation, ease muscular tension, increase energy, quiet mental activity, and enhance concentration. All of these benefits develop only with regular practice.
