Writing Tutors:

Requirements: Grade "A" in ENGL 1A, or its equivalent and excellent writing and communication skills; GPA 3.0 and above. Enroll in LERN 10, a one-unit tutor training course (enroll after being hired)

EOPS Tutorial Project

Location of Service Southwest corner of Room 207, Rosenberg Library Southeast corner of Room 207, Rosenberg Library

Available tutoring hours

Mon.-Fri. 8-5;
some evenings and Saturdays available

Mon. - Fri. 9-4

Working conditions

25-minute drop-in tutoring sessions. No appointments.

50-minute individual tutoring sessions with assigned students by appointment only.

Staff Peer tutors and faculty from both the English and ESL departments Peer tutors and a counselor
Participants All registered City College students from ESL 62 and above, including all English classes. Special outreach to at-risk, low-income, educationally disadvantaged students from ESL 60 to ESL 82 classes and all English classes.
Tutor Meetings (Attendance required)

 

Paid tutor meetings on Fridays 2:10 - 3:00.

Paid tutor/staff meetings on selected Fridays 2:10 - 3:00.

Math Tutors:

Program description

Tutors work with students on a 1st come,1st served basis for 15+ minute tutorial sessions

Tutors work with students on a drop-in basis in the Math Workshop; others work as teaching assistants in classes

Tutors assigned to work with same students all semester for weekly, 50 minute sessions

Tutoring hours available

Must tutor 5-15 hours/week

M-R 8AM-10PM; F 8-5; Sat 9-3; Sun 1-5

Must tutor 6-15 hours/week

M-F 8-3; M-R 7PM-9PM; S 8-1

Must tutor 10-15 hours/week

M-F 9-4

Tutor Training: "LERN 10" – a one-unit, CR/NCR course

LERN 10 meets second Sat, & three Fridays 2:10 – 4:00 thereafter

LERN 10 only recommended. Individual training sessions scheduled throughout semester to fit tutor needs

Enroll in LERN 10, Introduction to Tutoring, a one-unit tutor training course, a CR/NCR course that meets the 2nd Saturday of the semester and three afternoons thereafter (enroll after being hired.) Tutoring hours available for 5-15 hours/week.

Computer Lab Assistants:

Deadline: Drop in for an interview and test as soon as you register for a semester; interviews are being held up until the first week of the semester and then throughout the semester as needed.

Requirements: Knowledge of Windows XP and Mac OS 9, Internet and email, and MSOffice programs; GPA 3.0 and above.

Learning Assistance Center Computer Labs - R207

Program Description

Lab Aides assist students on PC and Macintosh computers with MS Office, Internet, and email assignments.

Tutoring hours available

 

Must work 5-15 hours/week

M-R 7:30 AM-8:30 PM;

F 7:30AM-4:30 PM; Sat 9AM-4:30 PM.

Lab Assistant Training:

All Lab Assistants will meet on second Saturday for Lab training for LERN 10 and some scheduled lectures thereafter.
