Podcasting : What Does it Mean for Teaching and Learning Languages?

Only you can tell us!

Podcasting seems to be the latest big thing for education. Now with the advent of iTunes U, more of us will have an opportunity to try it and see.

SWALLT Online invites submissions from those of you in the trenches of podcasting to discuss your challenges, successes, and just what it means to your school especially in the context of teaching and learning languages.

  • Are you podcasting?
  • For what purpose(s)?
  • Who decides who gets to podcast? How are the resources distributed at your institution?
  • Does your institution provide students with iPods or other MP3 players?
  • Do you use it for publisher supplied audio? How is it an improvement over simply providing streaming or other online audio?
  • How does you institution deal with podcasting and 508 compliance?
  • What resources did you need to get started?
  • What reaction did you get from faculty? from students?
  • What kinds of faculty training and support did your podcasting project require?
  • What else did you learn?

Please send your submissions to the SWALLT Online Editor, creitan-@-ccsf.edu. Deadline May, 1, 2006.
