Welcome to the CCSF Honors Program:
HONORS COURSES The Honors Programs offers students an enhanced educational experience along with potential transfer and scholarship benefits.
Honors courses provide students with an enriched curriculum either in:
TRANSFER BENEFITS OF HONORS WORK In either case, the course is designated "Honors" on the student's transcript.
Many universities and colleges recognize the academic achievement presented by Honors courses with preferential transfer tracks, supplement points in transfer evaluation, scholarships for honors students, etc. Successful completion of honors coursework can be a big asset especially in transferring to programs in heavy demand at universities. CCSF Honors students may also look forward, after transfer, to participation in honors programs in many universities and colleges.

ELIGIBILITY FOR HONORS COURSES While any CCSF student may take an honors course, to participate fully in the Honors Program and have your work recognized on your diploma, you need to meet ONE of the following criteria:
To receive an Honors designation on a certificate, you must complete at least 15 units in Honors.

CITY COLLEGE OF SAN FRANCISCO is one of the largest community colleges in the United States. Its size means that you, as a student, have many fields of study available to you, and courses are offered in depth. As CCSF is located in an international city, the faculty is very diverse, and many points of view and backgrounds are represented. Faculty are often recognized experts in their fields, with over 150 of them holding doctorates. Thus City College of San Francisco draws many students planning to continue at various universities: CCSF has a high transfer rate to institutions such as the UC-Berkeley, UC-Davis, UC-Santa Cruz, San Francisco State University, and UCLA. Some of the campuses have special transfer tracks for students who have completed community college Honors programs.
ALPHA GAMMA SIGMA City College is home to the Omega chapter of Alpha Gamma Sigma, the California Community College Honor Society. Our chapter was founded in 1935. The chapter fosters scholarship, character and service. To be a member, students must have completed 12 hours of college credit and maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Members participate in many activities, including food and clothing drives, a teacher appreciation gala, college convocations, the regional and state conventions of AGS, etc. Alpha Gamma Sigma welcomes you participation and looks forward to seeing you at its next meeting.
