Assessment Process

Center Deans work collaboratively to develop administrative unit outcomes and assessment methods shared by all centers.  Refinement and customization of administrative unit outcomes and assessment methods occur continuously on an annual basis to promote program improvement.

The assessment process includes the following elements:

  • Center Deans review and revise administrative unit outcomes that are applicable to all centers

  • Center Deans develop a common student survey instrument to be administered by all centers

  • Develop supplemental survey questions tailored to a particular center with guidance from faculty and staff

  • Translate the student survey into principal languages such as Chinese, Spanish and Vietnamese to improve input from and access for low-level English Learners

  • Administer the survey to students enrolled at the center with assistance from the faculty

  • Tabulate survey data and compile narrative comments

  • Circulate survey results online and via e-mail

  • Engage faculty, staff and students in meaningful dialogue about the Center’s outcomes and assessment findings to identify program improvement areas

  • Identify and implement strategies for program improvement

  • Evaluate and submit progress reports on administrative unit outcomes in accordance with the College’s established SLO reporting cycle and program review process

  • Close the loop.  Center Deans review and revise administrative unit outcomes that are applicable to all centers
