Assessment Process

Center Deans work collaboratively to develop administrative unit outcomes and common assessment methods.  Refinement and customization of administrative unit outcomes and assessment methods occurs continuously on an annual basis to promote program improvement.

The assessment process includes the following elements:

  •  Meet with Center Deans to review and revise, if applicable, current administrative unit outcomes

  •  Meet with Center Deans to develop college-wide student survey questions to assess outcomes

  •  Develop supplemental survey questions customized for a particular center with guidance from faculty and staff

  •  Translate the questionnaire into principal languages such as Chinese, Spanish and Vietnamese to
improve input from and access for low-level English Learners

  •  Administer the survey to all students with assistance from the faculty

  •  Tabulate survey data and compile narrative comments

  •  Distribute survey results via e-mail

  •  Engage faculty, staff and students in meaningful dialogue about the Center’s outcomes and
assessment findings to identify program improvement areas

  •  Identify and implement strategies for program improvement

  •  Evaluate and submit progress reports on administrative unit outcomes in accordance with the College’s
established SLO reporting cycle and program review process

  •  Close the loop and meet with Center Deans to review and revise, if applicable, current administrative unit outcomes
