Check out materials at the Circulation Desk with your current CCSF ID card. Circulation staff will provide the return (due) date and time upon checkout. Read below for information and links for more details.

Library Cards

A current CCSF photo ID card is required to borrow materials. The library uses the barcode on the ID card. Student, faculty and staff ID cards are available at no charge at a campus/center Admissions office.

Requesting items that are ...

Checked out to another borrower

A patron may request that an item be held for her/him when returned by another borrower. Look up the item in OneSearch, and find the request button. Requesting an item will prevent the current borrower from renewing it.

At another CCSF Center library

Our inter-center loan service moves most circulating materials between center libraries on request. Reference and reserve materials may not be requested via inter-center loan. Look up the item in OneSearch, and find the request button.

Returning Materials

  • Circulating materials may be returned at any CCSF center library.
  • Reserve materials must be returned to the same library they were checked out from.
  • Use the Book Return slot at the Circulation Desk or give items directly to the Circulation staff. When the library is closed, put the material in the book return slot or bin near the library's entrance.

Overdue Materials and Fines

Borrowers are responsible for returning materials by the due date and time.  Fines are charged for items returned after the due date.

  • Books held beyond the last day of the semester automatically become delinquent.
  • If students do not return overdue items, the library will notify the Office of Admissions and Records. A block will be placed on college records. Registration, financial aid, grades and/or transcripts may be blocked until the late material is paid for or returned.

Library Fines – payable by cash or check only

  • Reserve materials: $.50 per hour
  • Circulating materials:  $.25 per day
  • Lost or damaged items:  Purchase price
  • Lost or damaged pamphlets:  Replacement cost
  • Bounced checks: Original fine plus bank service charges

For more information about borrowing materials, contact any library circulation desk.
