Off-Campus Access to Library Resources

An active RAM ID (student ID number) and RAM ID password is required for off-campus access to some CCSF Library subscription resources and databases, including online articles, streaming videos, and e-books. All students, faculty and staff at CCSF have a RAM ID, but they must 'claim' it or activate it for the first time before being able to gain access to the RAM ID portal and the library’s subscription resources.

To claim/activate a RAM ID, go to the RAM ID Portal, click on the New User/Forgot Password button, enter student ID number when prompted, and follow instructions to create password. Once the RAM ID is activated, it is not necessary to reactivate each semester.

Students, faculty and staff can access resources from the CCSF Library website and through OneSearch. When clicking on a resource that requires authentication (e.g. EBSCO databases), the RAM ID portal will open in a browser window. Log in using the RAM ID username and password, then access to  all resources happens as if on campus.

See the RAM ID Portal for more information. For additional assistance with RAM ID, contact the ITS Helpdesk at 415-239-3711 or Toll-Free at 844-693-4357.

In the very recent past, users needed the barcode from their student, faculty or staff ID card to access the databases but the library, in collaboration with the campus IT department, worked to make access more transparent and fluid for users. This system is still new, so please refer any questions about access to CCSF Library’s Chat with a Librarian service [see widget in right sidebar] or call.

The San Francisco Public Library also offers a collection of online articles and databases that can be accessed with an SFPL library card.
