The Specialized Services group provides three major services:
- Repairs beyond that of Customer Support
If the Service Desk determines that a piece of equipment needs service beyond that which can be provided on site, it will be handled by the Information Technology Services' (ITS) Specialized Services. Typical items include manufacturers' warranty repair; complicated part replacement; and, parts that need to be ordered. When possible, the Technical Services will provide temporary, substitute equipment.
- Specialized technical skills and/or knowledge
Although the Technical Services unit does its best, we recognize that it is not always possible to train all techs to do everything that is required of the Technical Services department. The Specialized Services unit reserves the techs with identified special skills and/or knowledge so they can be made available whenever the need arises.
- Technical Projects
ITS Technicians ("Techs") are needed to provide immediate service to CCSF technology "customers." Techs area also are needed to work on projects, so the Technical Services unit manages staff expertise and availability to ensure that both of these critical roles are met.
