Karen Davis is a Lecturer in Film and Media Studies and Senior Programmer at the Mill Valley Film Festival. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of California at Berkeley with a Bachelor of Science degree, and received her Master of Fine Arts in Cinema from San Francisco State University, where she received the Graduate Hood distinction. She is the recipient of two Fulbright Artist Awards for creative scholarship activity in Paris, France at the French National Film Academy (FEMIS). Davis is also the recipient of a National Endowment for the Arts Grant for her work in film and digital media. She currently lectures at CSU Monterey Bay and has taught at Vassar College and at the University of California, Santa Cruz and Davis campuses, and was recently elected to the California Executive Board of the American Association of University Professors.  Her scholarly work has appeared in the journals "World Art", "Afterimage", and other publications.
