Meet the Coach

Kelly Hickey begins her fifth year as Head Coach Women’s Tennis for City College of San Francisco.

For the past two seasons, the team has qualified players to the State Championship Tournament held in Ojai California. Most recently in 2014, two doubles teams reached the championship event.

Kelly is committed to following the tradition at CCSF of promoting high achievement in both athletics and academics.  She recruits with this dual student/athlete value as a high priority and she is proud that the Women’s Tennis Team posts the highest GPA within the Athletic Department.

Kelly began her coaching career at CCSF as Co-Head Coach along with her twin sister Lauren. In 2010 she assumed the position of Head Coach.  In addition to coaching, Kelly teaches several courses within the department.

Playing Career

As a player for Santa Rosa Junior College, she was ranked as high as No. 1 in the Nor-Cal in doubles and in the top 10 in singles.  In her sophomore year she was Nor-Cal Doubles Champion.  She and her sister were twice finalists at the prestigious Ojai Valley Tournament.  In both seasons at Santa Rosa Junior College, she earned All American Honors.   Following this success, she continued her tennis career as a member of the 2005-2007 Women’s Tennis Team at the University of San Francisco.

Education

Kelly holds a Master’s Degree in Kinesiology from San Francisco State University, a Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science and Sports from the University of San Francisco and an Associate of Arts Degree in Liberal Arts from Santa Rosa Junior College.
