Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Program
This program prepares students to meet National EMS Education Standards and State of California requirements for Emergency Medical Technician course completion and eligibility for the National Registry basic level examination (NREMT). EMT course completion and NREMT certification are required for advanced level (Paramedic) program enrollment. Course completion and NREMT certification make graduates eligible to obtain a state license as an EMS professional. Students are required to pass a criminal background check and drug screening, and must obtain updated immunizaton titers prior to placement in a clinical hospital or ambulance setting. Concerns about these requirements should be addressed to the San Francisco Local EMS Agency at (415) 487-5000.
