Photography Portfolio Seminar
Photography is once again in the process of re-inventing itself! In this workshop, students will be encouraged to pursue individual investigations of personal imagery. This workshop will help provide photographers with a forum in which the development and the exchange of ideas are possible. We will rethink the assumptions and practices surround the field of photography as we move from an analog to a digital world. This workshop will cover a wide range of technical & aesthetic concerns, which will vary according to the individual work presented.
This workshop is designed for intermediate and advanced photographers that have begun the process of formulating individual portfolios. Student projects will be reviewed in a critique format and students should come to class prepared for group discussion. Students must bring a portfolio of work to the first meeting.
On February 27th, the group will take a field trip to Pier 24, a non-profit art museum located on the Port of San Francisco directly under the San Francisco–Oakland Bay Bridge. The organization houses the permanent collection of the Pilara Foundation, which collects, preserves and exhibits photography.
