Between Painting and Printmaking
In this workshop we will be exploring monotype techniques between painting and printmaking.
Rather than emphasizing the production of multiples, we will be using a variety of monotype, relief, and intaglio techniques to explore the marks made in concert with the press, showing the handmade gesture, but also the logic of the machine.
We'll make stencils and plates from vinyl, magnets, paper, and plexiglass for additive and reductive monotypes and collagraphs. We will apply a painterly perspective to our use of color, gesture, and passes on the press. Both new and experienced painters or printmakers will discover new potentials for their chosen mediums by working between them.
