Botanical Illustration Workshop
Working from life allows for a rich understanding of form, color, composition, and texture equally applicable to representation and abstraction. We will begin with small studies in drawing and watercolor, progressing to larger works in water based media.
Each week we will work from live botanical samples of plants and flowers, progressing to individual arrangements of natural materials. We will learn how to draw from observation, overcoming assumptions through approaching our subjects from the point of view of a naturalist or botanist, intimately familiar with the particularities of each leaf, stem, sepal, and petal.
Students will come away with a new understand of how to represent botanicals in their individual artist practice.
All levels of experience are welcome.
