Accreditation

CCSF is Open and Accredited.  All units are transferable.  Students are eligible for federal financial aid.

OVERVIEW

City College of San Francisco (CCSF) is accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Community and Junior Colleges, Western Association of Schools and Colleges, 10 Commercial Blvd., Suite 204, Novato, CA 94949, 415-506-0234, an institutional accrediting body recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation and The U.S. Department of Education.

In June 2014, the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges adopted a new accreditation policy for institutions that have been notified of termination for failure to meet ACCJC standards. Under this new policy, an institution can apply for restoration of its accreditation prior to the effective date of termination. After careful consideration, City College of San Francisco submitted an application for Restoration Status to the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges on July 28, 2014. On July 30, 2014, ACCJC accepted the application.  On October 15, 2014 CCSF submitted a comprehensive Self Evaluation as part of the application for Restoration Status.  On November 16-20, 2014, ACCJC sent a review team to CCSF; the visiting team co-chairs submitted their final report to the Accrediting Commission which made a determination during its January 7-9, 2015 annual meeting. The Chancellor, Special Trustee, Accreditation Liaison Officer, and Trustee Rafael Mandelman had the opportunity to make a presentation at the Commission meeting and answer questions.

On January 14, 2015, the Commission notified the College of its decision to grant Restoration Status. City College will have up to two years to establish compliance with all ACCJC standards and complete actionable improvement plans.

Additional information about accreditation, including the filing of complaints against member institutions, can be found at www.accjc.org.   Third Party Comment Forms are available at http://www.accjc.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/ThirdPartyCommentForm_4-24-13.pdf.
