From:    Dr. Thelma Scott-Skillman, Interim Chancellor

The Visiting Team of the Accrediting Commission has come and gone.  I want to thank everyone who participated with the on-site visit of April 4-5, 2013.  I especially want to thank Gohar Momjian, Accreditation Liaison Officer (ALO), for stewarding the entire accreditation process that has been occurring at CCSF since notified of the ‘show cause’ status in July 2012, including the Response to the 14 Recommendations of July 2012 (submitted October 15, 2012), the entire Self-Study (submitted March 15, 2013), and the logistics for the on-site team visit (April 4-5, 2013).  Gohar’s organizational and management skills had a tremendous impact on ensuring that CCSF made good on its ‘deliverables’ to the Board of Trustees, Commission, the Visiting Team, college community, and the general public.

Indeed Gohar’s focused attention to detail has required extensive assistance from numerous individuals including her office colleagues, campus police, custodians, faculty, classified staff, administrators, and students.  For those of you who took time to meet with the on-site Team Members, thank you.  Your input was critical for the visiting team.  The assistance that has been extended to get CCSF to this day speaks volumes to the commitment, dedication, and passion held for CCSF.

Getting to this day, April 8th, has been no easy feat.  I simply ask that you take a break, reflect and assess the role you have had in assisting CCSF to get to this day.

A tremendous amount of work has been addressed, with many deficiencies cited and corrected.  There is still much work to be completed.  “Accreditation” is a process that is continuous and necessary for the health and well-being of the institution.  In the March 15, 2013 self-study CCSF identified numerous action plans/agendas to be addressed, many during the next several months.  The visiting team was presented with a tremendous amount of change, honesty and clarity of the institution’s self-assessment and remaining work.   Conversations with many of you echo similar feedback, particularly regarding the degree of sustainability for CCSF to continue its noted efforts and action items.  Again, what role will you have in addressing these action plans/agendas?

The Accrediting Commission meets in June, 2013 to render a decision on CCSF’s status.  During that meeting, the Commission will be provided an update on the progress CCSF has made regarding its outstanding action plans/agendas as identified in the self-study.  Notification of the Commission’s action should be sent to CCSF by mid-July 2013.

A sincere thank you for embracing the challenges needed for CCSF to respond to the accreditation standards and eligibility requirements to ensure quality education and services for CCSF students.
