Welcome Letter from Dean of the School of Health

Our foremost mission is to foster superior levels of educational participation and academic success among our students and, in so doing, enable them to transfer to four-year institutions as well as acquire the necessary job skills to attain entry-level positions in the fields of health care, fitness, fire or police.

The School of Health, Physical Education, and Social Services collaborates with health care and social service institutions to ensure that, upon completion of the study, our students are prepared to respond to the current community needs.

History

The School of Health, Physical Education (which includes 15 Athletic programs, and Dance) was founded in 1993 during a major re-organization of City College’s departments and programs. In 2013, the Social Services branch was added with the inclusion of the Administration of Justice Fire Science. Today, all of City College’s health, physical education, athletic, dance and social service programs are under the coordination and supervision of the Dean. The current structure allows for greater communication between the programs and department and provides students with greater flexibility in moving from one program to another.
