Student Rights & Responsibilities

TYPES OF DISCIPLINARY ACTION

In general, the types of discipline that are imposed by the College for violation of its rules or other applicable rules, regulations or laws include, but are not limited to:

Written reprimand officially recognizes a violation of the conduct code and admonishes the offender to avoid future infractions.

Restitution requires the student to reimburse or compensate for damage to or misappropriations of property.

Disciplinary probation is an action that continues with the student in the College with specified conditions for a specific period of time.

Removal from class for up to two class meetings or removal from activities or from the use of the library, laboratory, office, or service for up to two days.

Suspension from classes and college activities for a specified period of time.

Expulsion is the termination of student status for an indefinite period and requires Board approval. (Re-admittance subsequent to expulsion must also have Board approval). A failing grade in an assignment, test, or class may result in the case of proven cheating, plagiarism, or other acts of academic dishonesty.
