What
will this program do for me?
This course of study is designed to give students thorough and well-balanced
training in buying flowers, the art of arranging and selling them to
the public and in operating a retail flower shop.
What
kind of job can I get once I complete the program?
Students who complete the program are qualified for employment in a
wide variety of positions. Positions graduates may hold are in both
private employment and in the public sector. Private positions include:
cut-flower and bedding-plant growers; insecticide, fertilizer, nursery
or garden center salesperson; landscape contractor; and landscape consultant.
Graduates may take civil-service exams to work in the public sector
which include landscape or maintenance gardener, junior landscape architect,
nursery worker, weed-seed analyst, flower grounds worker, horticultural
inspector, crop foreman, highway-landscape leadsperson and highway tree-maintenance
person.

What
time of day are classes offered?
Courses are offered both during the day and evening. Refer to Schedules for Credit Classes for class times and locations.

do classes start?
Classes begin in the Fall (August) and Spring (January) semesters. Some

What
are the requirements for receiving a degree?
Requirements for the degree are to complete the core courses, including
principles of landscape design and landscape construction, principles
of ornamental horticulture, plant ID, landscape horticulture, and business
practices in the ornamental-horticulture industry and work experience.
