Crisis Communication with Youth  

Caregivers play a crucial role in crisis situations and have a great deal of impact over whether the crisis escalates or is resolved safely.  Study effective crisis communication and crisis prevention skills with youth in out-of-home care. Discuss a variety of early intervention and de-escalation techniques with an emphasis on non-physical crisis intervention methods. Learn how to increase the use of communication to minimize escalation and help clients avoid re-escalation. Examine maximizing staff effectiveness and self-control in crisis situations.
