Conflict De-Escalation

Conflict is nearly always present in the foster care field. Conflict resolution requires building trust and a spirit of cooperation. Explore basic negotiation strategies, communication and language skills, and non-verbal behavior. Discuss realistic and unrealistic emotions and how to employ active listening as a conflict resolution skill.

Instructor Todd Wright has ten years experience in community outreach. He specializes in conflict management, family cohesion, victim’s rights, social service delivery, environmental impact, intercultural communications, juvenile diversion, and child welfare reform. He has enjoyed successes in project management, internal and external communications, conflict resolution, and bridging diverse constituencies while developing consensus.
