Child Development Many of the youth we serve often suffer from some type of maturational or situational loss; these losses often impede their developmental processes and are reflected in their interactions with staff. A variety of theories describe children’s growth and maturation; each of these theories focus primarily on one aspect of development. For example, Piaget’s theory emphasizes the development of intelligence or cognition. Erickson focused on psychosocial development. Kohlberg’s Moral Development Theory emphasizes the development of children’s morals and standards. Explore the basic assumption underlying all of these theories is that people can best be understood in relation to their stage of development. 2 Group Home Adminstrator CEUs available. Instructors: |
