Addressing Challenging Youth Behaviors in the Context of Family Work Clinicians often have the experience of being in a therapy session and watching a child/youth become more and more oppositional as they wondered what to do. Welcome to the world of the parents/caregivers! How can you really be helpful if you are not sure about how to provide appropriate limits using behavioral intervention AND if you can’t help caregivers learn how to use these skills? Learn how to set and teach limit-setting within the context of the actual family therapy sessions. Many of these same principles apply to providing individual and group therapy as well. This training is targeted to clinicians who work with youth in the context of family therapy. Instructor Pamela Parkinson, PhD, LCSW, is a licensed clinical psychologist and a licensed clinical social worker with over 26 years in the field of providing services to children and families. Dr. Parkinson been trained in two disciplines (psychology and social work) and has worked as a residential counselor, a teaching assistant for special education, and a recreation specialist in residential treatment. Additionally, she has worked in the full continuum of services from residential and non-public school to community-based services such as outpatient clinics, school-based programs, diversion, kinship, etc.
