Behavior Basics for Youth in Out-of-Home Care

Become familiar with and practice behavior management techniques.  Behavioral systems are important to children in out-of-home care as they help to create a structure of systematic discipline which in turn supports safety.  Additionally, this training provides caregivers with effective strategies to control their own behaviors when working with this difficult population.

Training Objectives:


Trainees will be able to define the need for a behavioral system in association with child development

Trainees will be able to distinguish between negative and positive reinforcements

Trainees will be able to define, observe and measure target behavior
