Asthma: Identifying Symptoms; Responding, & Managing This Common Childhood Disease
Review new information about asthma identification and the treatment of asthma care. View and practice with various home tools used to either measure asthma in the home or to deliver medication to the lungs. Special emphasis is placed on empowering foster parents to be informed problem solvers for this common disease, helping them to asthma-proof their homes, and getting the most out of every doctor’s visit.
Instructor Nan Madden is a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, a Clinical Nurse Specialist, and an Assistant Clinical Professor at the University of California San Francisco. She has provided primary care to the under-served children of our community at San Francisco General Hospital for the past 20 years. In 1999 she started the Pediatric Asthma Clinic at San Francisco General and since that time has coordinated the care of over 1000 children with asthma .She has five grown children, four grandchildren, and resides in San Francisco with her husband.
