Description:

Both “old-timers” in the field and newcomers, are welcome to attend this introductory “one-way mirror” training. Observe from behind the mirror and participate in a reflecting team with the family during the session. Study theoretical underpinnings of this systemic training, including structural, strategic, functional, behavioral, and developmental theories. This training is open to anyone who works directly with families; you don’t have to be a clinician to participate.  Prerequisite: The overview training Working with Families Using Evidence-Based Principles listed above.

Participate in discussion, case presentation, role plays, and “live” observation as part of the training.
Week I: Review and further discuss evidence-based family systems theory, building on the Overview training.
Week II: A class member presents a case of an actual family with whom they are working.
Week III & IV: “live” observation of the family with supervision of new strategies for intervention sent in by earpiece during the family session. This is your opportunity to see what this is like without having to be the one observed!
