***VIRUS UPDATE - PLEASE READ - IMPORTANT! ***
Recently two emails have been circulating within CCSF that carry a dangerous virus: W32mydoom.
The messages may appear to come from other folks at CCSF or from friends. They usually contain two attachments, one with a nonsense name ending in .bmp, the other called something like foto2.zip.
DELETE THESE MESSAGES WITHOUT OPENING THE ATTACHMENTS.
These viruses only affect Windows PCs. The Virus checker on our rollout Desktops will alert you to the virus so that the risk here inside the CCSF network is minimal. If you are asked what action to take, choose DELETE.
Your home system may be more vulnerable: be sure that you have virus protection installed at home and that you are keeping it up to date. If you don't update the software regularly - most companies put out updates at least once a week- you may be vulnerable.
If you have opened an infected attachment at home, here are some sources of help. These links will automatically open or download a program that you can double-click on your PC to deal with the infection:
The following are the two most common messages containing the virus. Others may appear in slightly different form, so stay vigilant. Delete these messages and any others containing similar attachments:

CCSF EMAIL POLICY ON VIRUS WARNINGS
CCSF PERSONNEL WILL NEVER SEND OUT A MESSAGE ASKING FOR ACCOUNT INFORMATION OR INSTRUCTING USERS TO OPEN AN ATTACHMENT THAT RELATES TO THEIR ACCOUNT THAT IS NOT PERSONALLY SIGNED BY A SYSTEMS ADMIN (i.e., with a name such as Shirley Barger, Anne Morris, Doug Re, whomever).
"Virtually yours," "The CCSF Team", "CCSF Administrators" and such AIN'T our STYLE, and it won't be.
