Getting Accounts

  • How do I get my CCSF network, email and/or web accounts?

  • How do I learn how to use my new accounts? The TechDocs page contains an overview of your CCSF computer accounts, along with online tutorials and downloadable handouts.

  • How do I get access to the CCSF wireless network? The CCSF WLAN page contains general info, downloadable applications, support documents, and information about the Wireless Help Desk.

Help Desk

  • How do I get help using my CCSF accounts, Word, PowerPoint, FrontPage, or other Microsoft Suite applications? Call the Help Desk at 239-3711. A simple question may be handled over the phone.

[For more complicated issues, you may choose to attend a TLC workshop, ask to schedule a custom training (3 or more) in your department or location, or make an appointment with Vic (GroupWise, MSOffice applications, Contribute) or Carol (Contribute, WebCT, multilingual computing) in the TLC.]

  • Can I access the internet in my classroom? First, check to see if there is a data jack in your classroom. Then, call the Help Desk at 239-3711 AT LEAST TWO WEEKS BEFORE you plan to use it to activate the jack to work with your CCSF laptop.

  • Where can I check out a laptop and a projector to use in my classroom? Contact the:

Multilingual Computing

  • I often need to use languages other than English on my computer. Can I do that? Yes, the Multilingual Computing at CCSF page can help. Additionally, the 3 computers on the north wall of the TLC can handle wordprocessing, web browsing, and web-based email in Chinese, Japanese, and Russian. The international keyboard is also available for ease in using diacritical marks.

Purchasing Computers and Software

  • Can you help me buy a computer or software for personal use at home? The Purchase page has links to information concerning buying both Macs and PCs. There are deals available for CCSF employees buying software and computers.

TLC Open Lab

  • I need a place on campus to use a computer, print, and access the internet and CCSF email? Where can I go?The TLC Open Lab is located in Batmale 313. A few workstations and a printer are also located in Batmale 422 for those who need to work on campus outside the hours of the Open Lab (9am-4pm, M-F).

  • Where is the TLC lab located? Batmale 313.During the academic year, the lab is open from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. , M-F. Call 239-3711 for summer hours. The lab offers both PCs and Macs. It is a quiet place to work, offering a scanner, and printer as well as many programs you may wish to use such as Dreamweaver, Contribute, PhotoShop.

Training

  • Do you have classes to help me learn to use my computer more efficiently? Yes, there are classes in the basics, web development, using GroupWise email and more. Our training page will also direct you to online resources and workshops available outside of CCSF for community college faculty and staff.

WebCT

  • I'd like to get a WebCT course shell to use with my regular course. How do I get one? Just fill out the online application to use WebCT in the Tech-enhanced Mode.

  • I need WebCT training. How do I get it? There is a self-paced tutorial from @ONE available for CCSF instructors. Contact the TLC to gain access to it. There are also some workshops scheduled. You may also be interested in facilitated courses delivered by @ONE.

  • My students and I have questions about using WebCT. Who can I call? The WebCT Help Desk offers 24/7 WebCT support.

Web Grading

  • How do I sign up for online grading? Log in to Web4, choose Faculty Services, then Faculty Midterm and Final Grade Menu, then Course Grading Status. OR you may call Garrett Wong at ext. 3358. Please be prepared to give him the CRN numbers of your course(s).

Web Sites

  • I need a web presence at CCSF. How do I get one? Department websites can be requested at: https://www.ccsf.edu/Forms/website.html . Faculty can choose from several ways to create a web presence, first view the chart to decidee which way is best for you. Then go to the accounts page to follow the procedure for the way you have chosen.

  • Ok, so I have my account to make a web site at CCSF. Where can I find help? Contribute users can call the TLC for help with their Contribute sites. FrontPage and Dreamweaver users have a wealth of online help and tutorials available.First, check the Webmasters' Resource page, where you'll find many online training options and informational resources. You may also check the TLC Training Schedule for workshops in HTML, FrontPage, and Dreamweaver. Please feel free to call the TLC for an appointment to discuss your needs.
