Who can apply for a CCSF scholarship?

CCSF scholarships are awarded to students who are currently enrolled at CCSF. Applications are to be submitted during the semester in which the scholarship is offered.

Foreign students are eligible to apply for most CCSF scholarships. Only a few CCSF awards require that candidates be U.S. citizens or permanent residents.

Are there any scholarships for first-time CCSF students?

Yes there are. Stop by or call the Scholarship Office, and ask for the sheet "Scholarships for First-Semester CCSF Students."

What steps are involved in applying for CCSF scholarships?

bullet

Review the list of scholarships offered each semester. Copies of the list are available in the Scholarship Office, and may be obtained by calling the office at 415-239-3339, or by stopping by the office.

bullet

Read the eligibility requirements for each scholarship and make sure you meet the criteria before applying.

bullet

Obtain the application forms, many of which are available at the Scholarship Office. Evening students and students from other campuses may call the Scholarship Office at 239-3339 and request applications.

Do I need to turn in any other information with the application form?

Most scholarships require that you provide some additional information along with your application. For example, the CCSF General Application, which is used for applying for many of the available scholarships, requires that applicants submit two current letters of recommendation, a personal statement, a current unofficial transcript and a print-out of courses-in-progress, both of which are available free of charge from the Transcript Office, Conlan Hall, Room 107. Complete instructions regarding required attachments are included with each scholarship application.

When do I apply for scholarships?

The deadline for most CCSF scholarships is the first Friday in October for Fall semester awards and the first Friday in March for Spring semester awards.  Apply for scholarships early in the semester.  Independent/private scholarships not affiliated with City College have deadlines which vary.
