Helpful Hints for a Successful Application Process

Step 1

You must apply for admission to CCSF.  If you have any questions, please contact the Admissions & Records Department at  50 Phelan Avenue, San Francisco, CA 94112, tel. (415) 239-3285.

Step 2

Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).  This FAFSA is available on the WEB, or paper form.  Use your name as it appears on your social security card.  This name must match with the name you use on your CCSF Admissions Application, State ID or Drivers License and your Alien Registration Card if you are an eligible non-citizen.  List City College of San Francisco using federal school codes 012874.

Step 3

If FAFSA is completed on the WEB, request a PIN number to sign the application electronically (a valid social security number is needed) OR print out the signature page. Sign and mail the signature page to the central processor.  If paper FAFSA is completed, mail the form to the central processor beginning January 2, 2007 for school year 2007-2008; January 2, 2008 for 2008-2009 school year.

Step 4

New Cal Grant applicants mail GPA verification to California Student Aid Commission (CSAC) by the postmark deadline of March 2, 2008 for 2008-2009.

Step 5 Keep photocopies of every form and document.
Step 6

Submit all required documents immediately upon request to the Financial Aid Office in person

Step 7 You will receive an award notification and the disbursement schedule.
Step 8

If eligible, the financial aid check can be set up for Direct Deposit to your bank account which is the fastest way to receive funds.  Otherwise payment will be mailed to the mailing address you provided the Admissions & Records Office.
