Apply for the 2008-2009 Board of Governors Fee Waiver (BOGW)

 

What is a Board of Governors Fee Waiver (BOGW)?

The Board of Governors Fee Waiver is a State program designed to ensure that the fee policies of California Community Colleges are not a financial barrier to education for any California resident. The BOGW waives the College’s enrollment fee for the entire academic year if you apply and qualify.

How Do I Apply for a Board of Governors’ Fee Waiver at CCSF?

Step 1.  Complete a Credit Admission Application with the Admissions or Registrar's office at CCSF.  Be determined a California resident by the Admissions or Registrar's office at CCSF.

Step 2.  Complete the 2008-2009 BOGW application if you meet the eligibility criteria below and if you have not completed and filed a 2008-2009 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

Step 3. Submit in person (do not mail) the BOGW application and required documentation (For BOGW A or S).  Your eligibility for a Fee Waiver under Method A, B or S will be determined at the time of application.

Board of Governors Fee Waiver Eligibility Information

You are determined eligible by one of four methods:

  1. BOGW A Method - You (or your parents  if you are a dependent student) receive public assistance now.  On the day you apply, bring photocopied proof of public assistance dated within the past sixty days:

    • CalWORKS, or

    • SSI/SSP, or

    • General Assistance

  1. BOGW B Method - You (or your parents) meet the Income criteria as indicated below.

If you do not qualify for a Fee Waiver under Method A or B, you may still qualify for a FEE WAIVER under Method C.  You also may qualify for other financial aid programs as well.

  1. BOGW C Method - Complete the 2008-2009 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).  List CCSF Title IV school code 012874 in question #97 of the FAFSA.  If you have been determined to have “financial need of at least $1.00” and you are a California Resident according to the Admissions Office, your fee waiver will be processed electronically by the CCSF Financial Aid Office.  FAFSA  applications are available online at www.fafsa.ed.gov.

  2. BOGW S - Special Classifications (Please bring proof of eligibility)

  • You have an eligibility certification from the CA Dept. of Veterans Affairs or the National Guard Adjutant General, or

  • You are a recipient of the Congressional Medal of Honor or as a child of a recipient, or a dependent of a victim of  the September 11, 2001 terrorist attack, or

  • You are a dependent of deceased law enforcement/fire suppression personnel killed in the line of duty.
