Waiver of English
Placement Test
English: Students may be excused from taking the
English Placement Test and may demonstrate their eligibility for
English 1A or 1B by attaching proof (e.g., transcripts,
official test result reports) of one of the following:
- University of California Analytical Writing
Placement Exam score of 8 or higher
- Completion of a U.C. course satisfying the U.C.
Entry Level Writing Requirement (e.g. Subject A Course)
- International Baccalaureate Exam scores:
1B High Level English A Exam score of 5 or higher
1B Standard Level English A Exam with score of 6
- Any of the following SAT scores:
SAT I Verbal (before 4/95): 510
SAT I Verbal (after 4/95): 590
SAT II Writing Subject Test: 660
SAT Reasoning Test, Writing Section: 680
- ACT Combined English/Writing Test with score of
30 or higher
- Advanced Placement Test Exam in:
English Literature and Composition: Score of 3, 4 or 5 (Equivalency:
English 1A and 1B), or
English Language and Composition: Score of 3, 4 or 5
- Completion (with "C" or higher) of English 1A -
College Level Reading & Composition course of the equivalent.
CAUTION:
The
equivalent course may meet the Written Composition Requirement (Area
B) for graduation from CCSF but may not be transferable to a
university. It is the student’s responsibility to check the policy and
requirements of the transfer college/university.
You must file a Placement Testing Waiver Form (you
can download the Acrobat
Reader to open this pdf file) and attach proof (e.g.,
transcripts, official test result reports). Mail it to:
