About EOPS

Established at the City College of San Francisco (CCSF) in 1970, the Extended Opportunity Programs and Services (EOPS) is a California State funded counseling and special services program designed to assist low income at risk students by facilitating their enrollment at the community college and providing services to promote their retention, graduation, transfer and employment.

EOPS offers academic, career and Personal counseling, educational planning and academic progress monitoring, peer advising and mentoring, priority registration, outreach and recruitment, orientation to college, financial aid advising and workshops, California State University and University of California transfer application fee waivers, and transfer workshops. In addition, the program offers instructional support services such as book service program, tutorial service, and special activities such as the Cooperative Agencies Resources for Education (CARE) for EOPS students who are single head of household with a dependent(s) who is under the age of 14 years old and the Pre-trial Diversion and Second Chance programs.

EOPS has been recognized by the Chancellor's Office, California Community Colleges as one of the most unique educational counseling and student support programs in the State. To date, EOPS has assisted over 100,000 students, serving approximately 1,400 students per semester.
