DSPS Credit Courses: DSPS Q, Strategies for Main Idea in Reading and Writing

Explore a powerful approach to learning Strategies for Main Idea in Reading and Writing Basics. In this overview course you will practice the following strategies for reading comprehension and writing:

  • Develop verbal reasoning for reading.
  • Be able to "get to the point" in any type of reading material.
  • Write summaries with clarity.
  • Learn signals of paragraph organization and transition.
  • Identify and write topic sentences.
  • Practice effective reading study techniques for textbooks.

In this nine week course we will put the basic skills together to read and write at the paragraph level and learn important strategies for reading textbooks and writing topic sentences and summaries.

The course will be offered two times this semester:
