DSPS Non-Credit Courses: DSPS 4035, Computer Access for the Disabled

The DSPS operates two High Tech Centers, one at the Ocean Campus and one at the John Adams Campus. Students at the High Tech Centers receive training in the use of adaptive computer technology. In addition, self-paced software tutorials are available for student use. The labs are open entry/open exit.

Students can:

  • Learn adaptive equipment and software
  • Complete their schoolwork with or without adaptations
  • Complete an independent project related to their disability
  • Use self-paced multi-sensory instructional programs to learn:
  • Business Applications
  • Reading/Writing/ESL
  • Math, all levels
  • Web and Web Design
  • Graphics
  • LD Remediation
  • Typing
  • Foreign Languages
  • DDL skills

Academic Assistance Program (Ocean Campus)

The Academic Assistance Program is a drop-in study lab offered through the Ocean Campus DSPS High Tech Center (Batmale Hall 231) in the afternoons and evenings on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday when the Strategies Lab is closed. In the lab, students can receive limited individual and small group assistance in Math and English; learn alternative approaches to studying; try out learning strategies that focus on one's learning strengths; as well as study independently in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Open through finals week.
